Do you have any hotels at the Start?

Marathon Tours offers a variety of hotel options near the finish line. The town of Hopkinton is very small and is 26.2 miles away from the city and the finish line. We recommend booking your hotel reservations at the finish line for several reasons. The marathon expo, pasta dinner, post-race celebration, and bag drop are all located at the finish line area. The B.A.A. organizes buses from Tremont Street in the Boston Common near the finish line to the starting line in Hopkinton for runners on race day. Access to this complimentary transfer is easily accessible from finish line hotels via public transit or walking.


How do I get two beds?

We do not contract specific room types in the majority of our hotels. Requests for two bedded rooms or a king size bed are never guaranteed and are dependent on hotel availability. These are special discounted hotel rates and two bedded rooms are very hard to obtain over race weekend. We will do our best to request these rooms for you as our goal is to provide the best service for your weekend needs, but we cannot guarantee bed type.


Do you charge my credit card now?

No. We require a credit card only to hold the reservation and will not charge the card except in the event of a reservation cancellation. However, the hotel may charge your credit card for one night’s room and tax up to 30 days prior to check-in. Most, if not all hotels will require a card for incidentals upon check-in and will bill you for the full balance of your reservation upon checkout. Payment for the room will be handled with the hotel directly.


What if I want more than one room?

Our system will only allow you to book one room at a time. In order to book two or more rooms you will need to repeat the process used to reserve your first room. For example, when you finalize the first reservation, a link will appear allowing you to make another reservation. Please do not hesitate to call Marathon Tours if you require assistance.


Why do my children not appear on the hotel confirmation?

Some properties do not allow for the inclusion of children on the booking form. If you encounter this issue and will be travelling with children, please just include a note that you will be travelling with children in the Additional Requests section at the bottom of the Personal Information page on the online booking form. Only the names of the adults should be on the reservation. Marathon Tours can assist you in adding your children to the reservation if you were unable to do so at the time of booking.


Why do I need to include the total number of guests and provide all the adult’s names?

Total guests in the room should be the number of adults only – otherwise you will be charged a higher rate. Additional fees for more than 2 people in the room are only applicable for guests 18 years of age and over. If a guest is not on the reservation and arrives prior to you, they will be unable to check in. In order to accurately transfer reservations over to the hotel, guest names are required as to avoid confusion and make it easier for the hotel to differentiate between reservations.  In addition, in the case of an emergency, hotels need to know the number of guests and the names of guests on the property.


How do I cancel my hotel reservation?

You are able to cancel your reservation online via our booking website with your acknowledgment number and last name. You may also email stating that you would like to cancel your reservation. You will receive an email in both instances confirming the cancellation of your reservation. If you do not receive an email within 15 minutes of cancelling, please contact Marathon Tours. Please note that we require all cancellations to be in writing and therefore cancellations cannot be done over the phone. All cancellations are subject to a cancellation fee based on the date of your cancellation.


What are the cancellation fees?

If you cancel before January 1st 2015 you will be subject to a $20 fee. Between January 1st 2015 and February 1st 2015 it is a $40 fee. Between February 1st 2015 and March 1st 2015 the fee is $60. Any time after March 1st 2015 you are subject to a one night’s room and tax fee. All fees will be charged to the credit card you initially used to make the reservation. Fees are assessed per room not per night.


What is the policy for name changes for primary guest? Is there a fee?

Primary guest information on the reservation includes financial details and therefore our website purposely restricts the changing the primary name. Name changes need to be communicated in writing and will be reviewed on a case to case basis. Please contact Marathon Tours if you require assistance with this matter. There is a $20 handling fee for this process. Marathon Tours will do everything in their power to waive the fee wherever possible.  


I called the hotel and they do not have my reservation. Why?

Reservations made through Marathon Tours are not sent to the hotels until about 3 weeks prior to check-in. Marathon Tours pre-blocks a total number of rooms with a given property under the company name. Names for each individual room are sent to the hotels about 2-3 weeks prior to the event. This process makes it easier for the hotel and helps avoid many reservation issues.


When can I call the hotel myself?

We recommend that you call the hotel no more than one week before your check-in date if you would like to reconfirm your booking.
