Bagan Temple Marathon Event Information

 

EVENT INFORMATION

Date:

The Bagan Temple Marathon and Half-Marathon will take place on November 15, 2014.

Events: The Bagan Temple Marathon features two competitive distances, a full marathon and a half marathon. Both distances start and finish at the same time and place.

 

Registration:

Please complete the online registration form to sign up for the Bagan Temple Marathon. 

 

Prices:

The marathon package includes a bib number, a Newline technical running tee, a finisher medal, supplies on the route and medical attention by a team of Danish doctors. The price is USD 365. The 6-day package costs USD 1849 per person in a shared double room (single room supplement USD 585) and the 7-day package costs USD 2143 per person in a shared double room (single room supplement USD 660). Eligibility:

Full marathon runners must be minimum 18 years old on race day. Half marathon runners must be at least 16 years old.

 

Start and finish:

The marathon and half marathon start and finish in front of Hti Lo Min Lo Temple. It is possible to deposit bags with personal items for use after the race. Although the finish area is manned, depositing personal belongings in the area is entirely each runner’s responsibility and the marathon organizers are not responsible for loss or damage of personal belongings.

 

Time:

The start time of the race is set for a 6:00am start Cut-off time is 7 hours. All runners still on the course after 7 hours will be picked up and driven to the finish line

 

Surface:

A mixture of gravel and sand on trails and roads. Some stretches of the route are on paved roads. The route is relatively flat.

 

Race officials:

The race officials reserve the right to change the course and other aspects of the race without advance notice. Please note that all decisions made by the race officials and/or medical team are final.

 

Medical team:

On race day, a team of doctors and paramedics will provide medical assistance to runners in need. The medical team reserves the right to remove any runner who is unable to complete the race. Please note that all decisions made by the medical team or race officials are final. The medical team will consist of Danish doctors and local paramedics.

 

Supplies on the route:

There will be water stations along the route. Some stations will also serve energy drinks and bananas. Personal supplies can be deposited at certain water stations. More details about route supplies will follow.

 

Clothing:

The weather in November is hot and humid with temperatures reaching highs of around 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit). Light-colored clothing, short-sleeve technical shirts are a good choice as sweat is not absorbed (like cotton), sun block is a must (use SPF30 or above), a running hat with visor is also advisable as it can help keep the sun out of your eyes

 

Race/bib numbers:

You will receive your bib number in the goodie bag we will be handing out the day before race day.

 

Awards:

All finishers receive a medal. A small, symbolic prize is given to the winner of both distances for men and women. Please note that there is no prize money.
