Itinerary - Dublin

 

2014 itinerary

 

October 23 Depart from your home city on your overnight flight to Dublin, Ireland. 
October 24 Arrive Dublin and transfer on your own to the five-star Hotel Conrad in central Dublin. Join your guide for an afternoon run to loosen legs. Tonight you are invited to our welcome cocktail reception to meet the MT staff and other travelers.
October 25 Irish breakfast is served each morning at your hotel. A tour of the city with a stop at Kilmainham Gaol and a journey along part of the marathon course will familiarize you with the attractions of Dublin.  The city tour will conclude at the Dublin Marathon expo for race check-in and number pickup. Return is on your own from the expo. 
October 26 Today opt to join us for the International breakfast run, shirt exchange and Irish dance show.  This afternoon there will be plenty of time for sightseeing at your own pace or to re-visit the race expo before our evening pasta dinner at the hotel.
October 27 RACE DAY! Our hotel is within a short walking distance to the race start and from the finish line. Post-race celebrating ends only when the pubs close. Opt to join Marathon Tours and your fellow travellers this evening at the famous (or maybe infamous) Johnnie Fox's Dinner and Dance show! 
October 28 Morning coach departure for a chauffeured ride through the Irish countryside to Galway. We will stop along the way at the National Stud Farm where champion race horses from around the world are bred and to visit the ruins of Clonmacnoise. Lunch is on your own.  A welcome dinner is awaiting after check-in at the Meyrick Hotel in Galway.
October 29 Day of leisure to explore beautiful Galway or opt to join our motorcoach on a full-day loop of the Connamara region with a visit to the famous Kylemore Abbey. The evening is free to dine at any one of a number of local restaurants only a walk from your hotel. This night is always a popular one in the local pubs.
October 30 We travel south to Bunratty through the Burren area at a relaxing pace to arrive at the Cliffs of Moher for lunch (on your own). Later we check-in at the Old Ground Hotel in Ennis. The grand finale is a medieval dinner at Bunratty Castle.
October 31 Transfer to Shannon Airport for return flights to your home city or continue exploring Ireland on your own private Bed and Breakfast or Castle Tour.  Contact Marathon Tours for assistance in booking extended travel.
