Marathon Tours is pleased to announce that we have been selected as an official travel agency for the 2010 Athens Classic Marathon for the United States and Canada. There is also now a 10K and a 5K that is an out-and-back course from the Panathinaikon Stadium built for the first modern Olympics in 1896. Marathon Tours first started offering packages to this event in 1983.
 

We are planning an extra special trip in 2010 to commemorate the 2500 anniversary of Pheidippides run in 490 BC. Our packages include great hotels in the city center, cocktail receptions, pre-race dinners, celebrity guests speakers and an exclusive post-race party at one of the Plaka's oldest tavernas.

Every runner dreams of running in the footsteps of Pheidippides who ran from Marathon to Athens in 490 BC to announce the Athenian victory over the invading Persians. You will love the finish inside the classic marble stadium.

Our four-night package in Athens includes many features that will simplify the logistics of running this event. We also offer an optional three-night pre-Athens trip to Crete that includes breakfasts and dinners as well as a four-night extension called the Classical Greek Tour that includes visits to Mycenae, Naplia, Olympia and Delphi.
 

We can also make individual arrangements for island excursions or perhaps a stopover in Italy. Please be aware that October is the shoulder season for the most popular islands such as Mykonos and Santorini and many restaurants or hotels are closed for the season.  Be advised that we can customize your itinerary to meet individual needs throughout Greece or to other parts of Europe.

Special rates are being offered on flights to Athens. We can book any flights that you prefer from your home city on any dates that you pefer.  Land only packages are available to those traveling on frequent flyer tickets.
