It has been held each year since 2021 within the <a href=\"https:\/\/marathontours.com\/en-gb\/events\/london-marathon\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/marathontours.com\/en-gb\/events\/london-marathon\/\">TCS London Marathon<\/a> (2021, 2022), the <a href=\"https:\/\/marathontours.com\/en-gb\/events\/chicago-marathon\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/marathontours.com\/en-gb\/events\/chicago-marathon\/\">Bank of America Chicago Marathon<\/a> (2023) and the <a href=\"https:\/\/marathontours.com\/en-gb\/events\/sydney-marathon\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/marathontours.com\/en-gb\/events\/sydney-marathon\/\">TCS Sydney Marathon<\/a> (2024). It will be staged within the <a href=\"https:\/\/marathontours.com\/en-gb\/events\/new-york-city-marathon-agwc\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/marathontours.com\/en-gb\/events\/new-york-city-marathon-agwc\/\">TCS New York City Marathon<\/a> in November 2025. Athletes must be registered at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldmarathonmajors.com\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.worldmarathonmajors.com\/\">worldmarathonmajors.com<\/a> to claim their rankings results and be eligible for an invitation to the Championship event. Qualifying for this year\u2019s championship is complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>How do runners qualify?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are three pathways to qualification for the 2026 championships 1. Achieve the qualifying time for your age group (View times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldmarathonmajors.com\/rankings\/how-it-works\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.worldmarathonmajors.com\/rankings\/how-it-works\">here<\/a> and search qualifying races in 2025 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldmarathonmajors.com\/rankings\/qualifying-races\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.worldmarathonmajors.com\/rankings\/qualifying-races\">here<\/a>.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Finish high in your age group ranking at the end of the qualifying period<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. Run the Global Marathon virtual race through the AbbottWMM Global Run Club. There are 200 places available through this route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>When do runners receive their invitations?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Registered runners who have already achieved the qualifying standard or qualified through the spring 2025 Global Marathon will be contacted shortly with entry information. Runners who achieve qualification through the remainder of 2025 will be contacted with entry information soon after their results are in the Age Group World Rankings.
