Thursday, November 6
Arrival Day
Today is an arrival day. Please make your own way to the start hotel located in the city centre. This afternoon, for anyone interested in joining, there will be a relaxed group run to the Panathenaic Stadium to shake out your legs for the big day.
Friday, November 7
Half-Day City Tour & Expo
After breakfast at the hotel, we will depart for a guided half-day city tour including visits to the Acropolis and the iconic Parthenon. Our English-speaking guide will provide a historic and cultural overview of ancient and modern Greece. The tour will end at the race expo so you can collect your race kits. From here, the afternoon is yours to enjoy Athens in your own way before regrouping this evening for an evening reception and race briefing. (Breakfast & Reception included)
Saturday, November 8
Pre-race Dinner & Optional Cape Sounion Tour or 10K
Today is a free day for you to enjoy ancient Plaka however you choose. If you have opted to join the optional excursion to Cape Sounion on a half-day tour, you will depart this morning on the windy roads headed for the Temple of Poseidon followed by a three-course lunch at a local restaurant. The tour will take approximately 6 hours and must be booked and prepaid in advance.
If you are running the 10km, your race will take place today in the early afternoon/evening. We will walk you down to the start line from the hotel which is just a short walk away.
An included dinner will be served at the hotel tonight for everyone.

Sunday, November 9
Race Day
After an early breakfast make use of the bus transportation provided by the race organizers to transfer to the race start. We will walk you to the buses to ensure a smooth start. After a momentous day on the marathon course, this evening is free to celebrate your achievement however you choose. A non-hosted celebration dinner at a local restaurant is an option for anyone wishing to venture to the Plaka area this evening (steps involved)!

Hotel Achilleas - TO BE CONFIRMED FOR 2025
Achilleas is recently renovated and is a good standard 3* category with multilingual reception staff available 24 hours a day. American buffet breakfast is served every morning and includes products from the Mediterranean diet with Greek flavours, seasonal fresh fruits, cereals, scrambled eggs, honey, cakes, bread rolls with olives, raisins or multi-grains, croissants, hot and cold beverages among others.
You will find many restaurants, traditional tavernas, archaeological sites, and museums close by including the Acropolis. If you want to venture further away the public transport system is easily accessible within 100 metres. Panathinaikos Stadium is only 20 minutes’ walk away (race finish area) making our hotel the perfect choice for runners and companions!
You can choose to relax in the hotel lounge or in your room. All rooms offer free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, a TV with satellite channels, wooden floors, a safe deposit box, a mini fridge, and a bathroom. Smoking rooms are available on request.

American buffet breakfast is served every morning and scrambled and hard-boiled eggs, ham, sausages, cheese, beans, a selection of cereals, yogurt with honey, fresh fruits of the season, fruit salad, compote, croissants, cakes, marmalades, etc. There is also a Greek corner with feta cheese, olives, spinach, cheese pies, etc.

5K Race Date: Saturday, November 8 at 5:00 PM (Please note that this is a change from previous years)
Marathon and 10K Race Date: Sunday, November 9, 2025
Race Start Time: Marathon 9:00 AM; 10K 8:15 AM
Course: The marathon course starts in the small village of Marathon and traces the route used for the first modern Olympics and the 2004 Olympics. It passes the Tomb of Marathon where the Athenians soldiers who lost their lives in this historic battle are buried. The course is very hilly from nine (9) miles until 20 miles. The last 10K is mostly a gradual downhill. It finishes inside the Panathenaic Stadium built for the first modern Olympics in 1896. The 5K and 10K both start on Amalias Avenue in front of the Zappeion Megaro entrance (walking distance from the hotels) and finish inside the Stadium. You can find the course map here.
Temperature: Average temperatures range between 15°C to 24°C.
Marathon Course Time Limit: There is an eight (8) hour time limit.

Number Pickup: Each runner must pick up their own race packet at the Expo. Time has been allotted for this during the half-day city tour.
Eligibility: All runners must be at least 18 years of age on race day.
Awards: Every finisher will receive a medal, finisher certificate, sport-bag and commemorative t-shirt.
Difficulty: Difficult due to the hills. The last 10K is downhill, which is a relief to your legs!

Minimum age
To take part in the Marathon 42km, you must be at least 18 years old. To take part in the 10km or 5km you must be at least 12 years old.
How to book
To make your booking, make sure that you select the correct number of rooms and types for all members in your party plus all the required extras. When you book, we will require a deposit to confirm your place.
Payments
When you confirm your booking, we will take a deposit payment. Subsequent payments are taken automatically.
The cost of the event entry is non-refundable.

Guaranteed Athens Marathon Entry
We are pleased to offer you guaranteed entry for the 2023 Athens Marathon 42km, 10km, or 5km. You can buy the entry at an additional cost if you also buy the accommodation package with us.
Starting Times and Bib Numbers
Although we are licensed to sell official entries for the 2023 Athens Marathon 42km, 10km, or 5km, we have no influence over the allocation of starting times and bib numbers.
Closer to the event we will ask for your expected pace and other details to complete the registration process for the Athens Marathon. The race organisers will allocate you a starting time and bib based on the information you provide.
