Did you know the Athens Marathon 2025 race is inspired by the Ancient Greek legend of Pheidippides, a messenger who is said to have run from Marathon to Athens to bring news of the Greek victory over the Persians at the Battle of Marathon? This is your opportunity to run the original marathon route, following in those victorious steps.

Friday, November 7
Arrival Day and Reception
When you arrive in Athens there will be a private transfer to take you from the airport to your hotel, Athens Tiare. Check-in is at 1:00 pm. If your room is not available upon your arrival, they will hold your bags should you wish to start exploring! Tonight, join us for a welcome drink and get together at the hotel. It offers a perfect opportunity to ask questions and get to know fellow runners!
Saturday, November 8
Shake-out Run, 5K race and Pre-race Dinner
In the morning Marathon Tours & Travel invite you to join us in the hotel lobby before leaving for an orientation run. It will acquaint you with the local area and shake-out any travel tiredness. The run will be an easy 5k route at a pace comfortable for all fitness levels.
The rest of today is a free day for you to explore the city.
Tonight, we will gather for a pre-race pasta dinner at the hotel.
(Breakfast and dinner are included)
Note to the Official 5K Athens Road Race Runners: The 5K starts at 5:00 pm and it is requested you be at the starting area by 4:30 pm latest. A walking transfer will be provided from the hotel to the starting area, which is approximately a 20-minute walk away. The walk back to the hotel from the finish at the stadium is approximately 30 minutes or 15 minutes on public transport.
Sunday, November 9
Race Day
After an early breakfast a private bus transfer will be leaving at 06:00 am to take you to the marathon race start. For those running the 10K, the race will start later this morning. At 07:00 am there will be a walking transfer to the 10K starting area an approximately 20-minute walk away from the hotel. The walk back to the hotel from the finish at the stadium is approximately 30 minutes or 15 minutes on public transport.
After a momentous day on the 10K or marathon course. Please join your Marathon Tours & Travel host for a post-race celebration the first drink is on us!

Room Policy
Marathon Tours & Travel’s policy is that anyone staying in our room block must be part of our package. If you plan to bring a spouse or guest, they must purchase our package. For example, if there are two of you, the rate would be the double occupancy rate (per person). If you purchase a single occupancy rate package, then only you are allowed in your room. You must be part of our package to attend any of our activities.

Run The Original Marathon Route in Athens
The course starts in the village of Marathon and becomes hilly for the middle third of the distance, the last third is a gradual downhill before finishing inside the Panathenaic Stadium in Athens.
This is your opportunity to run the original marathon route with more than 43,000 runners and 80,000 spectators. The incredible city of Athens is a mecca of historical importance, and the Athens Marathon 2025 gives you the opportunity to experience the wonder of the city in a truly unique and memorable way.
Race Start Time: 09:00 am (10k starts at 08:15 am)
Weather: Average temperatures range between 16°C to 24°C.
Course Time Limit: There is an eight (8) hour time limit.
Number Pickup: Race packets will be delivered to the hotel and can be collected from your on-site Marathon Tours and Travel Rep!
Eligibility: All marathon runners must be at least 18 years of age on race day.
Awards: Every finisher will receive a medal, finisher certificate, sport-bag and commemorative t-shirt.
Difficulty: Difficult due to the hills. The last 10K is downhill, which is a relief to your legs!

Registration & Booking

Minimum age
To take part in the Marathon 42km, you must be at least 18 years old. To take part in the 10km or 5km you must be at least 12 years old.
How to book
To make your booking, make sure that you select the correct number of rooms and types for all members in your party plus all the required extras. When you book, we will require a deposit to confirm your place.
Payments
When you confirm your booking, we will take a deposit payment. Subsequent payments are taken automatically.
The cost of the event entry is non-refundable.

Guaranteed Athens Marathon Entry
We are pleased to offer you guaranteed entry for the 2023 Athens Marathon 42km, 10km, or 5km. You can buy the entry at an additional cost if you also buy the accommodation package with us.
Starting Times and Bib Numbers
Although we are licensed to sell official entries for the 2023 Athens Marathon 42km, 10km, or 5km, we have no influence over the allocation of starting times and bib numbers.
Closer to the event we will ask for your expected pace and other details to complete the registration process for the Athens Marathon. The race organisers will allocate you a starting time and bib based on the information you provide.
All race rules must be followed.
