The sixth annual AbbottWMM Marathon Tours & Travel Age Group World Championship (AGWC) race will take place within the 2026 Sanlam Cape Town Marathon and feature 2,500 of the world’s best age group competitors. Marathon Tours & Travel (MTT) is pleased to offer a four night supported package that includes your race transfer to the start.
The AGWC Hotel Package DOES NOT include a guaranteed entry. This package is available to anyone who achieved a qualifying time and secured their own AGWC entry. Your supporters are welcome and encouraged to join our trip!

Welcome to Cape Town! Make your way to the Westin Hotel Cape Town and once you check-in, the afternoon is yours to enjoy.
The Marathon Tours & Travel team will be available in the hotel today and at various times over the next few days to help you and answer any questions you might have.
Massages will also be available during this trip (at an additional cost).

Expo & Welcome Reception
This morning after breakfast we take you the short distance to the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon Expo. Pick up your bib and explore the stalls before making your own way back to the hotel at your leisure.
This evening we invite you to join our welcome reception and enjoy drinks and light food with runners from all over the world. You will receive support and vital information from our team to make the most of your Cape Town Marathon experience and stay in South Africa’s Mother City.

(Optional) Half Day City Tour & Expo (additional cost, bookable online with us)
After breakfast, we will depart for a half-day sightseeing tour of this beautiful city including all the ‘must-sees” of Cape Town, which is a geographical and cultural extravaganza. You will visit Cape Town Castle, which was built between 1666 and 1679 and is the oldest colonial building in South Africa. If weather permits, you’ll also enjoy a cable car ride to the top of Table Mountain where you will be able to get a 360 degree view of Cape Town, Table Bay and the nearby peaks of the surrounding mountains. A stop at the expo to pick up your race kits will be included in the tour. The rest of the day you will have on your own to explore Cape Town.

Shake-out Run
This morning after breakfast you are welcome to join for a light shake-out run around the surrounding area. This will be at an easy pace and is a chance to loosen your legs. It will be no longer than 5km (approx. 3 miles).
Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure. No trip to Cape Town is complete without exploring the many sights and sounds of the Cape Peninsula, its history, its culture and beautiful scenery. Consider using the Hop-on Hop-off sightseeing buses which have a choice of routes and on board commentary. You can pre-purchase a ticket during your booking process with us (at an additional cost).
This evening please join us for our Pre-Race Dinner which will take place at the Westin Cape Town or a venue close by. Our expert team will guide you through the next days arrangements, answer any last minute questions you may have and enjoy a delicious and nutritious dinner.

Sanlam Cape Town Marathon & Celebrations!
Sanlam Cape Town Marathon race day is here! After an early breakfast, the Marathon Tours & Travel team will ensure you get to the start line smoothly and stress free.
After the race, recharge in the International Tent at the finish village. Meet up here to find your family and friends or meet them back at the hotel. Assistance will be given to get back to your hotel.
Marathon Tours & Travel team will be happy to accompany supporters at key cheer zone areas so they can support safely and with no logistical concerns.
Treat yourself to a spa treatment or use the hotel rooftop sauna and infinity lap pool to relax and ease your tired muscles. All available from our 5* hotel, The Westin Cape Town.
This evening we’ll meet up for post-race celebrations, saying cheers to all of our runners on an amazing accomplishment!

Solo Travellers
We take the hassle out of travel and provide a memorable and safe experience that is achieved by traveling with like-minded, adventure-seeking runners. It’s fun seeing the sights and running with a group. If you prefer double occupancy packages but are traveling alone, ask us to see if there is a single traveller that can share a room.

Room Policy
Marathon Tours & Travel’s policy is that anyone staying in our room block must be part of our package. If you plan to bring a spouse or guest, they must purchase our package. For example, if there are two of you, the rate would be the double occupancy rate (per person). If you purchase a single occupancy rate package, then only you are allowed in your room. To attend any of our activities, you must be part of our package.

Africa’s only AIMS Gold Label Marathon and currently an Abbott World Marathon Majors candidate. Sanlam Cape Town Marathon will host the AGWC in 2026.

Course
Starting and finishing outside the iconic Cape Town Stadium, the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon winds through the city in the shadow of Table Mountain along a fast route down to the southern suburbs and back to loop next to the sea and the finish line. Hosted in a unique city that brings the best of all worlds together, the marathon will enable runners from Africa and around the globe to experience the spirit of running an African Major. Set in the beautiful, international city of Cape Town on the tip of South Africa, it embodies the beauty of the sea and mountains of the Cape. Alongside the marathon (Sunday) the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon weekend includes 10km & 5km Peace Runs and some mountain trail runs (Saturday); 43-46km, 22km & 11km.

In accordance with Athletics South Africa (ASA) Rules and Regulations, participants must meet the minimum age requirement for each event by the event date.

Awards
Everyone who finishes the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon will receive a medal, ASICS Shirt and goodie bag.

This booking is on request. Request Bookings will confirm that you have accepted our Booking Conditions. Your booking is not however, guaranteed until our partner company confirms availability. Please expect confirmation of place within 1-3 days of making your booking. Your card payment details will still be required for the deposit to secure your space, though please be advised this information will be held securely, and the card will only be debited upon confirmation of booking.

How to Book
To make your booking, click on the button at the top of the page, ensuring that you select the correct number of rooms and types for all members in your party, plus all the required extras. When you book, we will require a deposit to confirm your place.
Payments
When you confirm your booking, we will take a deposit payment. Subsequent payments are taken automatically.
Travel advice

Travel Insurance
We strongly recommend travellers to take out comprehensive travel insurance with sufficient healthcare cover. Make sure that you are insured for existing medical conditions, any activities you plan to do and any equipment that you plan to take. Travel insurance covers you if anything doesn’t go to plan before you travel as well, so we recommend sorting it at the time of booking.
Credit card
It is generally required that hotels request a credit card imprint upon check-in, where a value is held and released when you check out. Any incidentals such as room service or chargeable extras to the room would be deducted.
Security Policy
Marathon Tours & Travel’s security policy requires that anyone staying in our room block must be registered as part of our package. If a registered client attempts to house a non-registered guest and/or invite them to attend any of our scheduled activities, the registered guest’s tour package will be forfeited, and parties may be denied access to future tours. Please note that no exceptions will be made as this policy will be strictly enforced.

This event is an Abbott World Marathon Majors Marathon Tours & Travel Age Group World Championship (AGWC) Qualifying Race. If you achieve the automatic qualifying time for your age group, found here, you’ll be invited to the 2026 Age Group World Championship. Location still to be determined. The qualifying period begins on January 1, 2025, and will conclude on December 31, 2025.
