When you run in Rome, you run in an open-air museum!

This is a route that is unmatched anywhere in the world. With a start and finish at the Roman Forum, you will pass in front of the Vittoriano; then in Piazza Venezia, you will gaze upon the Circus Maximus and feel the breeze of the Lungotevere. From there your eyes will cast upon Castel Sant’Angelo as well as St. Peter’s Basilica. Other famous sites on the course include the Foro Italico, the Mosque, Piazza del Popolo, Piazza di Spagna with the famous Spanish Steps, Piazza Navona, and Via del Corso. Throughout, you will be engaged and enthralled!

Within walking distance of the marathon start and finish, you will also find many Rome landmarks just a short walk from your doorstep.       Arrive in Rome and transfer on your own by train, taxi or shuttle to the Starhotels Metropole. We recommend you stop by the concierge desk at the Starhotels Metropole to book any additional city tours. Tonight, join us for a Welcome Cocktail Reception and trip briefing. (Welcome Reception included)

      Friday 14th March

      After breakfast, we will begin a four-hour guided walking tour of ancient Rome that includes a visit to the Colosseum and Roman Forum. This afternoon, you should plan to visit the Rome Marathon Expo to pick up your race bib and packet. More specifics on the Expo will be sent to you as the race gets closer. Enjoy the evening on your own. (Breakfast included)

      Today is a free day! We recommend a tour of the Vatican or several other destinations nearby. Tonight join us for a pre-race dinner at a local restaurant. (Breakfast and dinner included)

      Race Day! The starting area of the marathon is only a 10-minute walk from the Starhotels Metropole. Upon finishing your race, you can leisurely walk back to your hotel for a free afternoon. Join us this evening for a group Celebration Reception. (Breakfast and Celebration Reception included)

      Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before your departure home. Guests booked on the “Experience Italy” package will gather in the morning for your departure to Florence, the magical capital city of the Tuscany region.

      Guests should fly in and out of Rome’s Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport (FCO) if you are joining us for the four-night package. For those that are planning to extend their trip to Florence please book your return flight home out of Florence Airport (FLR).

    • Enter the 2025 Rome Marathon with Marathon Tours & Travel

      The Rome Marathon gives you the chance to run through history, soaking in all Rome has to offer along the way. Starting from Fori Imperiali, passing in front of the Vittoriano, you will see the chariot-racing stadium the Circo Massimo, before enjoying the breeze of Lungotevere alley that runs along the river Tiber. You will then take in the impressive Castel Sant’Angelo, viale della Conciliazione and St. Peter’s Basilica before finishing.

      Race Date: 16 March, 2025

      All race rules must be followed.

      Eligibility: Marathon Tours & Travel, an authorised tour operator, is required to offer travel arrangements in conjunction with guaranteed race entry. All runners must be 20 years or older on race day.

      Non-competitive entry

      Participation is allowed for non-Italians living abroad, who are not members of a Sports Club affiliated with World Athletics (former IAAF), signing an ad hoc waiver form. The race time will not be displayed in the general leader board but will instead be available next to the Athlete’s name, in alphabetical order, in a separate result table and the Athlete will not be able to win any prizes. Time limit to finish the marathon is 6h30.

       

      Competitive entry

      Competitive runners or Italian citizens who are not members of a national athletic federation affiliated with World Athletics (former IAAF) or FIDAL are required to purchase a RunCard and provide a medical certificate. If you are not able to obtain the above, please sign up as a non-competitive runner.

      Please refer to race rules for all possible scenarios and adhere to the situation applicable to you.

      Number Pickup: You must pick up your race bib and packet at the Rome Marathon Expo prior to race day.

      Temperature: Average temperatures on race day are between 45 to 65 degrees Fahrenheit.

      Awards: Every finisher receives a medal.

      Difficulty: Mostly flat, some of the course is on cobblestone.

      Course: The loop course will start near the Coliseum and pass many spectacular sites such as Piazza Venezia, the Roman Forum, Piazza Navona and the Vatican. There is also a 5K fun run starting immediately after the marathon. Entry for the 5K can be made on site at the Runner’s Expo.

      Race Time: from 08:30am (in 3 waves)

      Minimum Pace/Cut-off Time Policy: 6 hours 30 minutes

      How to Book

      To make your booking, click on the orange button at the top of the page, ensuring that you select the correct number of rooms and types for all members in your party plus all the required extras. When you book, we will require a deposit to confirm your place.

      Payments

      When you confirm your booking, we will take a deposit payment. Subsequent payments are taken automatically.

      Travel Insurance

      Travel insurance is an essential part of any holiday you take, and we highly recommend that you purchase suitable insurance for your trip. You must ensure that your travel insurance policy also covers you to participate in running events.

      Security Policy

      Marathon Tours & Travel’s security policy requires that anyone staying in our room block must be registered as part of our package. If a registered client attempts to house a non-registered guest and /or invite them to attend any of our scheduled activities, the registered guest’s tour package will be forfeited, and parties may be denied access to future tours. Please note that no exceptions will be made as this policy will be strictly enforced.

      Race Rules

      Our itinerary and details regarding the race are based on current information available at the time this package was released for sale. Whilst we expect the details to remain correct, changes are possible and will be confirmed nearer to the trip after the race organisers have confirmed final instructions. All race rules and procedures need to be followed.

      Starting Pens and Bib Numbers

      Although we are licensed to sell official entries for the 2024 Rome Marathon, we have no influence over the allocation of starting times and bib numbers. After purchasing your race entry with us, you will be sent a link to complete the registrations process. Please do not expect it immediately after booking – it will be sent when Rome Marathon sends the links to us. The race organisers will allocate you a starting time and bib based on the information you provide.
