The Totalsports TWO OCEANS MARATHON powered by BYD is widely celebrated as “The World’s Most Beautiful Marathon,” a title earned through the breath-taking scenery along its ultra marathon route. It is also home to South Africa’s largest half marathon, attracting thousands of participants each year.
Originally launched in 1970 it began as a modest race; the few runners lining up that year could not have imagined the extraordinary journey ahead. Today, the race sells out annually despite its expanding scale, attracting elite athletes and everyday runners alike.
2027 will be the biggest Totalsports TWO OCEANS MARATHON powered by BYD, with 21,000 runners for each distance. The 21.1km Half Marathon is on Saturday 3 April 2027 and the 56km Ultra is on Sunday 4 April 2027. Runners who take on the iconic 56 km Ultra face a truly demanding yet rewarding challenge. The course includes the ascent of Chapman’s Peak—renowned as one of the most spectacular coastal drives in the world—offering sweeping ocean views and unforgettable landscapes. This combination of natural beauty and endurance makes the race a standout experience on the global running calendar.
Over the decades, it has produced legendary champions, unforgettable moments and a legacy that extends far beyond sport—embedding itself deeply within the fabric of South African road running and the spirit of the nation itself. Both the 56km and 21km are tough routes, but unforgettable memories and experience are guaranteed.

Welcome to Cape Town!
Arrive at Cape Town International Airport (CPT) and make your way from the airport to the hotel to check in. For airport transfers we recommend pre-booking with EZShuttle. If you arrive before the hotels standard check-in time and your room is not ready you can leave your luggage at the hotel and explore your surroundings, or use the free time to visit the Expo to collect your race bib and any other extra items you may need. Detailed directions will be provided in your final itinerary. AC Marrott is located in the V&A Waterfront, which is within walking distance and surrounded by top quality restaurants and entertainment.
Your Marathon Tours & Travel (MTT) hosts will be waiting in the lobby to greet you and answer any questions you might have.

Expo, Race Briefing & Pasta Party
We suggest you collect your race bib from the Expo today with us and/or get to know your fellow travellers whilst taking in the sights with the Marathon Tours & Travel group.
After breakfast your MTT hosts will meet in the hotel reception at 10:00am and escort you to the expo for anyone who hasn’t collected their race registration pack. The Half marathon and Ultra marathon race briefings will also take place at the event expo.
More information regarding race briefings will be provided in the final event itinerary.
If you prefer to be independent, you can make your own way to the Expo and/or travel around on the Hop-on Hop-off bus routes. You can find more info on the event Expo here.
If you have chosen to take part in the trails races (24km, 16km, 12km) you will need to make your own return arrangements to and from the start/finish.
Often restaurants are booked up early, but you do not need to worry about finding somewhere to carb-load as this evening we will enjoy a substantial buffet meal with other MTT guests from around the world.

As with any race of this size the immediate surrounding area will be pedestrianised so we will get as close as we can with our vehicles to ensure you have the minimal amount of walking.
Supporters are welcome to join the Marathon Tours & Travel team later, after the start. More details will be available later.

International Friendship Run, Expo & Welcome Reception
After breakfast we will meet in the hotel reception at 08:50am as our private transfer will escort us to the International Friendship Run (IFR – a 4.5km optional run); it’s a fantastic way to start the weeks festivities.
International friendship run – International and Rest-of-Africa Totalsports TWO OCEANS MARATHON entrants powered by BYD are invited to meet for a scenic shake-out run or walk in the lead up to TTOM. Meet fellow runners from all over the world getting into the #TTOM spirit and invite up to three family members or friends to join you for a nominal fee as you proudly jog with your country flag.
Upon finishing the IFR you will be accompanied by MTT hosts to the Expo where you can collect your race registration pack.
The expo is located the CTICC which is next to our hotel, the Westin Cape Town.

Tonight, you will enjoy a meet and greet with your fellow travellers at Marathon Tours & Travel’s hosted Welcome Reception and trip & race briefings.

Sightseeing tour & Pasta Party
After breakfast we leave the hotel for a sightseeing tour. During the booking process you will be asked to choose from one of the following;
Cape Point & Peninsula Tour
After breakfast, we will depart for a Sightseeing trip with breath-taking views. The tour takes you along the Atlantic Seaboard via Chapman’s Peak to Cape Point, Simon’s Town & the Boulders Beach Penguin Colony. The tour offers entrance to Cape Point & Boulder Beach Penguin Colony. Lunch included.
Constantia Wine & Kirstenbosch Gardens Tour
After breakfast, we will depart for a Sightseeing trip to the Constantia region, in the southern suburbs of Cape Town. Nestled on the slopes of the mountain are beautiful homes and wine farms. Followed by a visit to the Kirstenbosch Gardens where you can stroll through the beautiful gardens, enjoy a coffee while relaxing and soaking in the view. The tour includes wine tastings, a cellar tour and entrance to the gardens. Lunch included.
If you prefer to be independent you can choose the open-top buses and travel around on the Hop-on Hop-off bus routes. Equally if you would prefer to take part in the trails races (24km, 16km, 12km) you will need to make your own return arrangements to and from the start/finish.

Room Policy
Marathon Tours & Travel’s policy is that anyone staying in our room block must be part of our package. If you plan to bring a spouse or guest, they must purchase our package. For example, if there are two of you, the rate would be the double occupancy rate (per person). If you purchase a single occupancy rate package, then only you are allowed in your room. To attend any of our activities, you must be part of our package.

The Western Cape’s most prestigious race, the Totalsports TWO OCEANS ULTRA MARATHON powered by BYD, takes athletes on a spectacular course around the Cape Peninsula. The milestone 57th edition of our globally iconic 56km route, which sees runners traverse Chapman’s Peak – often cited as the most spectacular coastal drive in the world – will be the next edition of our race.
Other highlights of the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon, Africa’s best loved road race, include the natural splendour of Muizenberg, St James, Kalk Bay, Hout Bay, Noordhoek, Constantia and Newlands as well as the throngs of spirited supporters lining the route.

If the race organisers advertise and allow for Internationals or Rest of Africa entrants to substitute their entry, please note you can only substitute a runner in the same race (e.g. a Rest of Africa Half Marathon entrant can only be substituted by a Rest of Africa resident wanting to run the Half Marathon).

When you confirm your booking, we will take a deposit payment. Subsequent payments are taken automatically.

If you have added a child to your booking, please advise [email protected] of your child’s name, age and booking reference.
Your Details
Please check all the details shown to make sure the names on your booking are the same as each person’s passport. If not, please let us know within 48 hours of making your booking so we can change them. If you don’t let us know straight away, you may be charged. Names must be given at the time of booking and any shown as TBA will be classed as a name change and there will be a charge.
Itinerary
Please refer to the itineraries descriptions displayed on our website. Arriving later than the start of our advertised itinerary or shortening your stay is not recommended as you may miss some activities. Please keep this in mind when you book your travel arrangements.
Please note there are no reimbursements or credits if you decide not to participate in any elements of the trip.
Insurance
We strongly recommend travellers to take out comprehensive travel insurance with sufficient healthcare cover, including cover for existing medical conditions and any activities you plan to do. Read more about travel insurance here.
Credit Card
It is generally required that hotels request a credit card imprint upon check-in, where a value is held and released when you check out. Any incidentals such as room service or chargeable extras to the room would be deducted.

Starting Times and Bib Numbers
Although we are licensed to sell official entries for the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon, we have no influence over the allocation of starting times and bib numbers. After purchasing your race entry with us, you will be sent a link to complete the registrations process. Please do not expect it immediately after booking – it will be sent when Sanlam Cape Town Marathon send the links to us. The race organisers will allocate you a starting time and bib based on the information you provide.

We can give you more information about the accessibility of different services and the assistance available from transport and accommodation suppliers, or at venues. Availability and access to certain services / seating may be limited by the service provider so we recommend you talk to us about what you need before booking. Special Requests
If you have any special request, you must advise us in writing at the time of booking e.g. diet, room location, a particular facility at a hotel or seat at an event etc. You should then confirm your requests in writing. Although we will endeavour to pass any reasonable requests on to the relevant supplier, we regret we cannot guarantee any request will be met. Confirmation that a special request has been noted or passed on to the supplier or the inclusion of the special request on your confirmation invoice or any other documentation is not confirmation that the request will be met. It’s important be up to date with the latest information about where you’re travelling to and what documents you need to have in order to travel.

To learn more about the destination that you are travelling to, including specific travel advise and entry requirements, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development office (FCDO) publishes up to date information here.
When you travel, you should be ‘Travel Aware’. By following the Travel Aware link, you’ll find a whole list of useful information put together by the FCDO, which will help you be ‘Travel Aware’ for your journey ahead.
Security Policy
Marathon Tours & Travel’s security policy requires that anyone staying in our room block must be registered as part of our package. If a registered client attempts to house a non-registered guest and /or invite them to attend any of our scheduled activities, the registered guest’s tour package will be forfeited, and parties may be denied access to future tours. Please note that no exceptions will be made as this policy will be strictly enforced.
Conditions of Sale
Please note we cannot sell race entry without accommodation package. Race entry is not refundable.
