INTRODUCING … THE ECOTRAIL RUNNING SERIES.

The team over at EcoTrail have created races that both champion sustainable practices in race delivery, whilst also offering runners the chance to explore exciting and diverse international cities. The courses will take you from buzzing neighbourhoods into nature trails which consist of coastal networks, nature parks, mountain ridges and much more. The aim is to highlight the importance of protecting natural environments, particularly those close to heavily populated areas, that are more exposed to potential damage. EcoTrail are passionate about aiding runners through these growing global concerns and have implemented environmental initiatives to take action.

If you choose to book an EcoTrail entry and accommodation package through Marathon Tours, we support the EcoTrail concept through use of public transport, employing local staff where possible, highlighting local and natural heritages, and using hotels that have sustainable initiatives.

During the event itself runners are provided with local and seasonal produce, they will also be issued with waste disposal bags and briefed on trail specific eco-responsibility. You are expected to bring your own water vessel which can be filled at the supply stations. Pre and post event, the EcoTrail team also work hard to reduce the environmental impact, by reducing and sorting waste, and using sustainable products to clean the course.

The EcoTrail events are great for both hardened trail runners and those looking to transition from road running. As a newcomer to the trail running world, you’ll discover lots about the trail running community and the shared desire to protect our natural environment. The shorter distances are a good introduction and are equally rewarding.
