The itinerary below reflects the 4-night package. We highly recommend adding on our post-race extension to your trip to allow you the time to discover and enjoy much more of China.
Arrival Day
Individual arrival transfers from Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport to your selected hotel are included. On arrival to your selected hotel you will check in for your 4-night stay.
The rest of the day is free for you to explore the city until 17:00 when the Marathon Tours & Travel Welcome Briefing will take place – this is scheduled to last for approximately 1 hour, so if you are making dinner reservations, please make sure these are after 18:00. (Location and time TBC)
Saturday 10 January 2026
Warm-Up Run, Half-Day City Tour & Pre-Race Dinner
The warm-up run (organised by Xiamen Marathon) takes place today – details and timings for this will be confirmed closer to the time. You will be transferred to the pier then transfer by ferry to Gulangyu Island for Breakfast Run.
09:00 – 14:00: After breakfast at the hotel, you will depart for a half-day city tour of Gulangyu Island!
Gulangyu is an island facing the city of Xiamen across the 600-meter-wide Lujiang Strait. It was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2017. With the opening of Xiamen as a commercial port in 1843, Gulangyu gradually became an international settlement and an important window for Sino-foreign exchanges. Its heritage reflects the nature of a modern settlement composed of historical buildings of different local and international architectural styles, natural sceneries and gardens.
14:00 – 17:30: This afternoon we will make a guided visit to to the EXPO (on foot from hotel).
18:30 – 20:30: This evening, after you have returned from the Expo, you will enjoy a pre-race pasta dinner (buffet style, venue tbc).

Race day & celebrations!
Today is RACE DAY – the start area is within walking distance from the hotel and the onsite staff will be there to assist.
Attracting runners worldwide, the Xiamen Marathon has established itself as a major event on the global marathon calendar. It’s a chance to compete alongside runners from all corners of the globe!
18:00 – 20:00: Enjoy a celebration dinner at the hotel (buffet style). Includes soft drinks, tea, coffee, local beer and imported house wine.

Monday 12 January 2026
Full Day Tour
Today, after breakfast, you will leave for a full day tour to Quanzhou, the starting point of the Maritime Silk Road. Including Maritime Silk Road Museum, Kaiyuan Temple, string puppet performance in Teahouse, Luojia ‘Floating’ Temple.
Today, a delicious Chinese lunch is included and will be enjoyed at a local restaurant during the excursion.
Dinner is at your leisure.

Tuesday 13 January 2026
Departure Day
Today, unless you have booked the extension trip to Guilin and Hong Kong, we will bid you farewell after breakfast today. It’s not goodbye but instead we’ll see you next time as we hope you will join us for another Marathon Tours & Travel trip.
Individual departure transfers from the hotel to Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport are included. Your departure time will be shared closer to the event date.

Room Policy
Marathon Tours & Travel’s policy is that anyone staying in our room block must be part of our package. If you plan to bring a spouse or guest, they must purchase our package. For example, if there are two of you, the rate would be the double occupancy rate (per person). If you purchase a single occupancy rate package, then only you are allowed in your room. To attend any of our activities, you must be part of our package.

Race date: 11 January 2026
Starting Times and Bib Numbers: Although we are licensed to sell official entries for the Xiamen Marathon events we have no influence over the allocation of starting times and bib numbers.
Race Rules: All official race rules must be followed. Information to follow when the route is confirmed.

Time Limit & Cut Offs: Information to follow when the route is announced.
Weather: Average temperatures range between 18 to 22 deg C (64 to 70 deg F).
Eligibility: Marathon entrants must be over 20 years old.
Awards: Everyone who finishes the Xiamen Marathon within the time limit will receive finisher supplies and a medal. The organising committee will also provide race T-shirt, race bag, bib number, timing chip and official program to all the participants.

We strongly recommend travellers to take out comprehensive travel insurance with sufficient healthcare cover. Security Policy
Marathon Tours & Travel’s security policy requires that anyone staying in our room block must be registered as part of our package. If a registered client attempts to house a non-registered guest and/or invite them to attend any of our scheduled activities, the registered guest’s tour package will be forfeited and parties may be denied access to future tours. Please note that no exceptions will be made as this policy will be strictly enforced.
