The TCS London Marathon 2025 – everything you need to know
April has arrived and that only means one thing – it’s TCS London Marathon month! One of the biggest races in the marathon calendar is here and they’re aiming to break all kinds of records with the 2025 edition.
Whether it’s your first time taking part in a marathon, your first time running in London, or you’re a certified London legend, we’ve put together some frequently asked questions about the TCS London Marathon 2025 to put your mind at ease…
London Marathon 2025 date
This year’s London Marathon will take place on Sunday 27 April 2025. What is unique about this year is that the TCS London Marathon and the Manchester Marathon will take place on the same day, meaning all the running eyes in the world will be on the UK for this mega marathon weekend!

The London Mini Marathon
Marathon running can get anyone interested from any age and the TCS Mini London Marathon seeks to get young people in to fitness and running as early as possible in their lives. Taking place the day before the full TCS London Marathon 2025, the 2.6km course starts on Horse Guards Parade and finishes in the same place as the actual marathon – on The Mall!
Unfortunately you cannot submit individual applications, but London Marathon Events actively encourages schools to apply and it’s a great opportunity to watch your kids run freely through the centre of London.
London Marathon start times
The triple start for the London Marathon begins out of Greenwich Park and Blackheath Park at 09:30am on Sunday.

The point-to-point course is very flat with only one small rise. The triple start winds out of Greenwich Park and Blackheath Park, loops through Greenwich and across Tower Bridge. Circling Canary Wharf the course runs along the Thames past the Tower of London through Trafalgar Square and onto The Mall where you will finish in front of Buckingham Palace. The course is one of the worlds fastest and previously boasted the women’s world record.

The same as every other marathon…26.2 miles long!

42.195km precisely, which is exactly the same as every other marathon!
London Marathon Expo
The TCS London Marathon 2025 Expo takes place at the ExCeL London between Wednesday 23 April and Saturday 26 April. Marathon Tours & Travel will be represented by our helpful, friendly expo team at stand E112, the last stand before you exit the event hall – so be sure to stop by and see what we have to offer! London Marathon cut-off times
Competitors will only be eligible for a medal and to feature in the results if they complete the course before the official cut off time, which is currently 19:00 on the day of the event (subject to variation at the organisers’ discretion). With the official mass start being at 09:30am, that gives you nine-and-a-half hours to complete the course, though generally the vast majority of runners are done by the 6.5 hour mark.
Average London Marathon time
According to London Marathon data provided by Strava, runners are getting faster! In the 2022 London Marathon, runners averaged a time of 4 hours and 18 minutes, but in 2023 the average time dropped to 4 hours and 6 minutes…
Of course, it is entirely dependent on conditions on the day. If the good weather continues throughout April we could be in for even quicker times, as the temperatures ranging between 10 and 20 degrees make for perfect running conditions.
