Fancy running a marathon and drinking wine at the same time? On Saturday 6 September 2025, thousands of wine-loving runners will again make their way through the vineyards north of Bordeaux for the Marathon du Medoc 2025. With a fancy dress theme each year, for 2025 the theme is ‘The Sea’! This marathon is an incredible event and has to be taken part in to be believed!
Entries for 2025 are expected to go on general sale in March. These tend to sell out very quickly so guarantee your participation with Marathon Tours & Travel ahead of that time.
We offer 2, 3 and 4 night stay to the Marathon du Medoc, with plenty to see and do for both runners and spectators.

Friday 5 September 2025
Arrival Day
Arrival in Bordeaux, make your own way to Hôtel Mercure Bordeaux Centre-Ville in Bordeaux.
In the evening, we’ll gather at the picturesque Château Castera in Saint-Germain-d’Esteuil for a special pre-race dinner, hosted under a beautifully decorated marquee. Doors open at 18:30, with live music and entertainment throughout the evening, culminating in a spectacular fireworks display at 22:15.

Race Day
After an early breakfast, runners will be collected by coach and transferred to Pauillac in time for the marathon start at 09:30 am. Spectators are welcome to join, but transfers are not included and will need to be added if they wish to travel to the start. Pauillac offers plenty of activities and entertainment along the riverbank for spectators.
After the marathon, our coach will bring runners and any spectators with pre-booked transfers back to our hotel in Bordeaux. The evening is then free for you to enjoy dinner at your leisure in the city.

Sunday – A Day to Explore or Unwind
Enjoy a free day to explore at your own pace, or join one an optional tours.
For a truly memorable experience, take part in our guided vineyard walk at Château Castera in Saint-Germain-d’Esteuil. This 8–9 km scenic walk through the vineyards includes several wine-tasting stops along the way.
After the walk, enjoy a leisurely lunch under a marquee at the château, beginning at 12:00, with service concluding at 15:30.

Château Castera Vineyard Walk & Lunch – Sunday, 7th September
Enhance your Médoc experience with a guided vineyard walk at the picturesque Château Castera in Saint-Germain-d’Esteuil. This 8–9 km scenic route winds through beautiful vineyards, with carefully selected wine-tasting stops along the way.

Marathon du Medoc 2025 with Marathon Tours & Travel
On Saturday 6 September 2025, thousands of wine loving runners will again make their way through the vineyards north of Bordeaux for the Marathon du Medoc 2025. Fancy dress is a must and every year there is different theme. Entries for the Marathon du Medoc 2025 are expected to go on general sale in April but they tend to sell out very quickly so guarantee your participation instead with Marathon Tours & Travel ahead of that time.
Race Start Time: 09:30am
Temperature: Average temperatures range between 15°C to 30°C with low humidity.
Medical Certificate:
Because you are registered for a sports competition, you must provide an attestation (paper, electronic or QR Code type) indicating that you have completed the Health Prevention Course (or “PPS”) set up by the FFA via its dedicated platform. To be valid, the PPS must have been completed no later than three months before the date of the event for which the person wishes to register, that is after June 6, 2025.Course Time Limit: There is a 6.5 hour time limit.
Number Pickup: Your race packet will be distributed to your hotel.
Eligibility: All runners must be at least 21 years of age on race day.

Travel Advice

Travel Insurance
We strongly recommend travellers to take out comprehensive travel insurance with sufficient healthcare cover. Make sure that you are insured for existing medical conditions, any activities you plan to do and any equipment that you plan to take. We are pleased to offer you guaranteed entry for the 2025 Marathon du Medoc. You can buy the entry at an additional cost if you also buy the accommodation package with us.
Starting Times and Bib Numbers
Although we are licensed to sell official entries for the 2025 Marathon du Medoc, we have no influence over the allocation of starting times and bib numbers.
Closer to the event we will send you a link which will allow you to complete the registration process for the Marathon du Medoc 2025. Once you have finalised the registration process, the race organisers will allocate you a starting time and bib based on the information you provide.
All race rules must be followed.
Minimum Age
To take part in the Event, you must be at least twenty one (21) years old on race day.
Medical Certificate
To participate in the Médoc Marathon, runners must be born on or before 6 September 2005 (minimum age 20).
As this is a sporting event, all participants are required to provide proof of completing the Health Prevention Course (“PPS”), issued through the official FFA platform. This certification can be presented in paper, electronic, or QR code format. To be valid, the PPS must be completed within three months of the event date, meaning after 6 June 2025.
