Marathon du Medoc 2024
Marathon du Medoc 2024
On Saturday 7th September 2024, thousands of wine-loving runners will again make their way through the vineyards north of Bordeaux for the Marathon du Medoc. Fancy dress is a must and every year there is a different theme. In 2024 the theme will be “Make Your Games!” Entries for 2024 are expected to go on general sale in March but they tend to sell out very quickly so guarantee your participation instead with Marathon Tours & Travel ahead of that time.
We offer both a 3-night and a 5-night tour to the Marathon du Medoc, with plenty to see and do for both runners and spectators. We have a private coach at our disposal all weekend and we stay at a 4-star hotel in Bordeaux. Friends are made every year at the welcome dinner and drinks on arrival on Thursday, and on Friday we enjoy a pasta party together at a local vineyard. Return private transport to the marathon is included on Saturday for runners and spectators.
We will celebrate on Sunday with a walk through local vineyards with plenty of tasting stops, followed by a celebration party. On Monday we will visit Saint-Emilion before a Gala Dinner at Chateau Agassac.
Travel Package Information
Arrival in Bordeaux, make your own way to Hotel Mercure Chateau Chartrons in Bordeaux. Welcome drink and buffet dinner at the hotel, followed by a welcome briefing and race bib distribution.
Bordeaux Vineyards (5 Night Tour)
Following breakfast at the hotel, we travel by coach for a day of chateau and vineyard visits, with wine tasting included. Lunch is also provided today at a local vineyard. This evening, following our final vineyard visit, we will have a hearty pasta meal before returning to our hotel.
Day in Bordeaux (3 Night Tour)
Today is free for you to explore Bordeaux. You can easily spend all day in the Maison du Vin, a museum dedicated to all things wine related. Alternatively, take a tram or walk along the riverside to the historical centre of Bordeaux. This evening, our coach will take us to a local vineyard, where we will have a hearty pasta meal before returning to our hotel.
After an early breakfast you will be collected by coach and taken to Pauillac in time for the Marathon start at 09:30. Spectators are also invited to join us, and there are many activities and entertainment for spectators on the riverbank. Our coach will bring finishers and spectators back to our hotel in Bordeaux after the Marathon. The evening is free for you to have dinner in Bordeaux.
Lunch & Walk (5 Night Tour)
The Walk & Lunch will take place at a Chateau near Pauillac – the exact location is kept a secret until the Sunday morning. You will enjoy a relaxing walk of no more than 10km through the vineyards. Several wine-tastings will be offered during the walk, before we have a celebratory lunch and party. Return transport is included with the experience. The coach will bring us back to Bordeaux, where the evening is again free to explore the local restaurants.
Departure Day (3 Night Tour)
If you are booked on the 3 night tour, please arrange your own onward travel today.
Saint Emilion Day
After breakfast, our coach will take us to the medieval city of Saint Emilion, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will start the day with a vineyard tour nearby, before heading to Saint Emilion, where you will have free time to explore. There is also a chance for you to visit one of the finest wine shops in the region. We will return to Bordeaux in time to prepare for our gala dinner this evening at a local Chateau.
