Athens Marathon

It was the most amazing, exhilarating and adventurous trip and I loved every minute of it

I am so thankful to have been a part of this well organized, fun and exciting adventure. Hats off to Karen and her crew.

“The four-night extension was exciting, breathtaking and filled with knowledge. The mountains were exquisite and the bus driver and tour guide made the trip a dream of a lifetime.

Other than that one 10 mile uphill, it was a phenomenal race. The enthusiasm of the fans on the course could not be beat, and I loved finishing into the Olympic Stadium. Those last 6 miles were as much fun as I remember in a race.

Our seventh trip with Marathon Tours and every one has been exceptional!

I was leery as I am a solo travel and first timer with MTT. The trip exceeded my expectations!! I will certainly be looking for another trip with MTT and will be joining the numerous people who are repeat customers.

Our local tour guide, Laura was amazing. Her knowledge of history, geography, language, sites to visit were incredible.

It was described as a challenging course and that was not an understatement (or overstatement). I was impressed by the number of aid stations along the course. I never was worried about there not being enough supplies at any of them.

The extension is well worth it. The hotels were well located and the food was excellent. The breakfast at Sofitel Airport Hotel was amazing, we stayed an extra two nights before our flight back home. The sites were all amazing. Laura was exceptional, her passion for her country’s history was evident and she had our full attention.

We would recommend this trip with the extension to our friends. Even though the marathon is hard with not may historic sites on the way, the sites close to the hotel and the extension make this trip worthwhile!

I had a great experience, I enjoyed the excursions and the marathon, of course! I also loved the run on Friday with Karen and some of the runners from the group. All the runners and companions were great! I made lifetime friends and can’t wait to join another race destination with Marathon Tours & Travel.

The original Athens Authentic Marathon has been a dream experience for several years and you made it happen.

Karen is great! She is very patient and knowledgeable about the Athens trip. The shakeout run was great. The hotel is in excellent location, and walking distance to everything. Thank you Karen for a nice trip. Will be with Marathon Tours & Travel in the future.

Karen, Please accept my most sincere appreciation for your absolute commitment for masterfully addressing our each and every need during our Athens adventure from start to finish! You were always available to make sure every item and/or detail move smoothly. This Athens’ trip moves to the top of the list of trips I’ve taken with MTT followed by Tokyo and Cuba (which you lead also)! An amazing, unexpected, brilliant trip. Traveling with in the shadow of COVID-19 made everything more challenging, but MT & our guides Karen & Laura made everything so much easier. Would travel with MT again and again.

Spectacular experience from start to finish!

The Athens Marathon was a great experience, with a tough, uphill course and spectacular finish in the Panathenaic Stadium. Athens is a fascinating, ancient city with so much to see and do. Karen was a fantastic, enthusiastic trip leader who was so helpful with all my questions.

A+ overall trip. We had a blast and would recommend it to anyone. This was our first Marathon T&T trip, and we will DEFINITELY be going on another one!

This was my 4th trip with Marathon Tours and every time its been a great experience. Anytime I do a race overseas, Marathon Tours makes it an enjoyable experience.

I highly recommend my tour group – Marathon Tours and Travel. Many of my fellow participants have traveled with Marathon Tours and Travel to other events, which is the best recommendation. I was impressed with the organization and friendliness of our two guides – Stephanie DiBrita and Nicole – who herded their 50 or so cats into a cohesive whole. Communication, hotels, buses, dinners, time tables were spot on. My fellow tour group members were a varied lot, mostly from United States and Canada, and all committed participants in training and running and racing. One gal marked her 100th marathon and completion of the “Seven Continents Club”. Another couple has run marathons in all 50 states, and is working on running half-marathons in all 50 states. We discovered commonalities and favorites, and certainly will encounter one another at future events. Wonderful times sharing stories.

This was my 44th marathon and I cannot express how thrilled I am to have had the privilege of being in Athens for this amazing run. It was so well organized and supported… the finish was just epic!

Stephanie and Nicole were great trip managers. They didn’t hesitate to answer questions and were extremely knowledgeable about the event, race and Athens. Anytime someone gets an opportunity to do an experience with marathon tours, they will be in good hands if they are their trip managers.

Stephanie and Nicole are amazing providing information and making sure we are having a good time! They are very kind and helpful. They definitely make our tours experience unforgettable! I will take any tour with them !

Experiencing a new culture steeped in ancient history. Interacting with (shock) individuals like myself, hearing their stories, learning from their cultural and race experiences outside of the US. Confident that the Marathon Tours staff was there as a safety net. Thankful that Marathon Tours booked a hotel with a grand breakfast buffet, including race day morning special. Grateful for the Marathon Tours staff for guiding us to the buses for transport to the event start.

Stephanie and Anne were delightful. They were always mindful of the special needs of folks in the group and when one gentleman fell, they were right there to make sure he was all right and not needing medical care. They were happy, professional, fun to be around.

The whole atmosphere of a destination race, from the accommodations to the race itself, and meeting like-minded friendly people who were all there for the same thing. This atmosphere wouldn’t have been made possible by the great planning and organization that went on behind the scene by the coordinators.

Stephanie’s first time with Marathon Tours, she was the perfect host. She was dedicated to ensure everything was smooth and we had a great time. Thank you Stephanie.

What did I like best? The camaraderie of the people on the trip along with history of the local sites and the marathon itself.

Spectacular. You have to include Meteora in any future extensions.

The day trip to Delphi was my absolute favorite and the highlight of my Greece trip.

The marathon itself was an amazing experience. Athens was a great city to visit and the Marathon Tour group was a wonderful group of people – so many new friends. Kudos to Jen and Jane for their great leadership!

This is my third trip with Marathons Tours. The price is similar to booking it independently with many value-added features. Also, one can rest at ease knowing there are tour leaders to help.

It was literally the best experience of my life. It was my first marathon, my first time to Greece and at the last minute, I had to travel alone. However, everything was so well organized and everyone was so down to earth and supportive, I felt right at home amongst family. My utmost thanks and respect to everyone who made this trip so magical! Kept abreast of what was happening, where we were going and things that were about to take place

All pre-race emails and questions were answered thoroughly by Jen. Our hosts, Jen and Jane did a great job as our Marathon Tours reps in Greece. They were both very knowledgeable about Greece and we really enjoyed their company on our tours. It was great to meet the other athletes and return home with new friends! Thank you Marathon Tours for organizing another great event.

Everything was taken care of! We didn’t have to worry about a thing. Athens was a perfect experience…so much so, we’re afraid we’ll never have another experience that matches it!

The tour guide was very knowledgeable and the length of the tour was perfect. I also really enjoyed the race! It was an amazing feeling to finish in the first Olympic Stadium. I would highly recommend this tour to other friends and family.
