The Abbott World Marathon Majors (AbbottWMM) is a series consisting of eight of the largest and most renowned marathons in the world: Tokyo Marathon, Boston Marathon® presented by Bank of America, TCS London Marathon, Sanlam Cape Town Marathon, TCS Sydney Marathon presented by ASICS, BMW BERLIN-MARATHON, Bank of America Chicago Marathon and TCS New York City Marathon.

Abbott World Marathon Majors Candidate Race

The final marathon currently in the candicacy stage is the Shanghai Marathon. Should it pass and meet the credentials required to become an Abbott World Marathon Major, they will become the ninth major in the series. As it stands, if the Shanghai Marathon passes, it will join the series in 2027.
