The Chicago Marathon is known worldwide for its fast, flat course and its thrilling world-class athlete competition. Marathon Tours & Travel offers low rates at properties located less than one mile from the start/finish area in Grant park.

One of the Abbott World Marathon Majors, the Chicago Marathon is a great choice if you want to chase after a personal record or simply finish your first marathon. Packed with spectators, the scenic course will take you past many historic landmarks and through numerous diverse neighborhoods including colorful Old Town, Little Italy and Chinatown.

Come for the run but take advantage of all that Chicago has to offer. Many of the city’s attractions are conveniently located within walking distance of one another including the Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, and the Museum of Science and Industry located at Chicago’s lakefront Museum Campus. Visit Navy Pier, stroll (or run) along the pedestrian pathway that stretches for miles along Lake Michigan and shop the Magnificent Mile along Michigan Avenue.

      Following is a schedule provided by the race. We encourage you to check the Chicago Marathon website for last minute updates. The start and the finish of the race is at Grant Park.

      5:30 AM – Gear check opens
      5:30 AM – Start corrals open
      7:20 AM – Wheelchair Start
      7:21 AM – Handcycle Start
      7:23 AM – Athletes with Disabilities Start
      7:30 AM – Wave 1 Start
      8:00 AM – Wave 2 Start
      8:35 AM – Wave 3 Start

      Be sure to join the Chicago Marathon Biofreeze 27th Mile Post-Race Party at Grant Park, Butler Field from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM! (times are subject to change)

    • The Blackstone

      The Blackstone is located next to Grant Park within the downtown Chicago Loop offering luxury accommodations. Celebrities such as Katherine Hepburn, Al Capone and numerous US Presidents have been swayed by the allure of the Blackstone since 1910. The Chicago hotel is housed in an elegantly restored French Beaux-Arts structure, giving an air of grandeur to each of its 332 lavish hotel rooms and suites situated near the Field Museum, McCormick Place, Millennium Park, Navy Pier, Soldier Field, and the United Center. The Blackstone is only .5 miles from the marathon finish.

      JW Marriott is the only true luxury hotel in The Loop, located just 0.7 miles from the finish. Throughout the landmark downtown Chicago hotel, you’ll discover touches of elegance, such as the magnificent lobby, stunning chandeliers and inviting seating areas. Each spacious room within the JW Marriott provides a peaceful oasis for relaxing. Enjoy delicious dining in the renowned restaurant, Florentine, or join other runners for cocktails in the lobby lounge. Enhance your stay with the Executive Level, which allows access to complimentary breakfast, afternoon tea, hors d’oeuvres, and non-alcoholic beverages.

  • Event Information

    • Race Date: Sunday, October 13, 2024

      Race Time:  The first wave begins at 7:30 AM.

      Minimum Pace/Cut-Off Time Policy: The event has a course time limit of 6 hours and 30 minutes. The official end vehicle will start following the last starter and maintain a 15-minute per mile pace along the race course. Chicago Marathon Website

      Course: Flat and fast, the start and finish is in Grant Park. The looped-course through the city offers numerous opportunities for spectators to catch the action.

      Temperature: The Windy City can be just that or it could be a chamber of commerce perfect day. Expect anything and everything from temperatures in the low 40’s Fahrenheit at the start to upper 70s at the finish. The average high and low is 64 and 46 degrees Fahrenheit in October.

      Non-Guaranteed Entry Application: Runners were encouraged to apply for a 2024 Chicago Marathon entry through the non-guaranteed entry drawing application process. (Closed as of November 16, 2023) We also have guaranteed entries with our 3-Night Package. Details available HERE.   • Registration & Booking

    • Hotel Cancellation Policy (Strictly Enforced): 

      • Any cancellation from the time of booking through April 30, 2024 will be charged a $30 cancellation fee.
      • Any cancellation from May 1, 2024 and through July 31, 2023 will be charged a $40 cancellation fee.
      • Any cancellation from August 1, 2024 and through August 31, 2024 will be charged a $60 cancellation fee.
      • Any cancellation on or after September 1, 2024 and through seven (7) days prior to your arrival date of your hotel reservation will be charged a one nights’ room and tax cancellation fee.
      • Seven (7) days or less prior to your arrival date, you will be charged the room and taxes for the total nights of your reservation. For example, if you booked three nights and canceled five days before you were to arrive, MTT will charge your credit card on file for the three room nights plus tax.
      • NO SHOWS will be charged the full room and taxes for total dates of the reservation, unless the hotel has a different policy.
      • Cancellations are charged per room reserved. Applicable charges will be applied directly to the credit card provided for your hotel room(s).

      Security Policy:

      Marathon Tours & Travel’s security policy requires that anyone staying in our room block must have their name on the hotel booking. If a registered client attempts to house a non-registered guest the registered guest’s reservation will be forfeited, payment will be due in full and parties may be denied access to future tours. Please note that no exceptions will be made as this policy will be strictly enforced.

Allyson joined the Marathon Tours team over five years ago after enjoying a successful start to her career in the hotel industry. As a Group Sales Manager at The Langham, Boston, Allyson learned about Marathon Tours and their role with the Boston Marathon. Allyson now manages our hotel partnerships around the world by delivering exceptional value and service related to the lodging we offer our clients. While assisting with hotels for many of our international trips, Allyson also manages Boston, Chicago, New York, and our Sydney hotel program.

During her time at Endicott College, Allyson studied abroad in Florence, Italy and fell in love with travel and Italian cooking. She travels as often as she can with her family, and enjoys hiking, cooking, and being active outside.
