The sixth annual AbbottWMM Marathon Tours & Travel Age Group World Championship (AGWC) race will take place within the 2026 Sanlam Cape Town Marathon and feature 2,500 of the world’s best age group competitors. Marathon Tours & Travel (MTT) is pleased to offer a four night supported package that includes your race transfer to the start and so much more.
The AGWC Hotel Package DOES NOT include a guaranteed entry. This package is available to anyone who achieved a qualifying time and secured their own AGWC entry through the AbbottWMM invitation process. Your supporters are welcome and encouraged to join you!

Welcome to Cape Town! Make your way to the Westin Hotel Cape Town, which will be your home for the next four nights. Once you check-in, the afternoon and evening are yours to enjoy.
Your Marathon Tours & Travel team will be available in the hotel today and at various times over the next few days to assist and answer any questions you might have. Through your time here, discounted massages will also be available to book (additional cost).

Friday, May 22
Following breakfast, there will be an escorted walk to the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon Expo to pick-up your bib. Here you can enjoy visiting with vendors before making your own way back to the hotel at your leisure. An optional city sightseeing tour prior to the Expo is available this morning as well (see below).
This evening we invite you to join our Welcome Reception for drinks and light food with runners from around the globe. You will receive support and vital information from our team to make the most of your Cape Town Marathon experience and visit in South Africa’s Mother City.

Optional Half-Day City Tour with Visit to Expo (additional cost)
After breakfast, depart for a half-day sightseeing tour of this beautiful city including all the ‘must-sees” of Cape Town, which is a geographical and cultural extravaganza. You will visit Cape Town Castle, which was built between 1666 and 1679 and is the oldest colonial building in South Africa. If weather permits, you’ll also enjoy a cable car ride to the top of Table Mountain where you will be able to get a 360 degree view of Cape Town, Table Bay and the nearby peaks of the surrounding mountains. A stop at the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon Expo to pick up your race kit is included in the tour. Enjoy the Expo at your leisure before making the short walk on your own back to the hotel.Saturday, May 23
Join us this morning for a shake-out run (approx. a 5K) around the surrounding area. This will be at an easy pace and all are welcome.
The rest of the day is on your own to enjoy. We suggest using the Hop-on, Hop-off sightseeing buses to explore the many sights and sounds of the Cape Peninsula. You will find a choice of routes and on board commentary. Tickets can be pre-purchased at an additional cost.
This evening please join us for our Pre-Race Dinner that will take place at the Westin Cape Town or a venue close by. Our expert team will guide you through the logistics for race day and answer any last minute questions you may have.

Sunday, May 24
Sanlam Cape Town Marathon race day is here! After an early breakfast, the Marathon Tours & Travel team will ensure you get to the start line smoothly and stress free.
After the race, recharge in the International Tent at the Finish Village. Meet up here to find your family and friends, or plan to meet them back at the hotel. Assistance will be given to get back to your hotel.
Marathon Tours & Travel team will be happy to accompany supporters at key cheer zone areas so they can support safely and with no logistical concerns.
Following your race, treat yourself to a spa treatment or use the hotel rooftop sauna and infinity lap pool to relax and ease your tired muscles. All available from our five-star hotel, The Westin Cape Town.
This evening we’ll meet up for the AGWC Award Ceremony and Celebration!

Marathon Tours & Travel’s policy is that anyone staying in our room block must be part of our package. If you plan to bring a spouse or guest, they must purchase our package. For example, if there are two of you, the rate would be the double occupancy rate (per person). If you purchase a single occupancy rate package, then only you are allowed in your room. Course: Starting and finishing outside the iconic Cape Town Stadium, the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon winds through the city in the shadow of Table Mountain along a fast route down to the southern suburbs and back to loop next to the sea and the finish line. Hosted in a unique city that brings the best of all worlds together, the marathon will enable runners from Africa and around the globe to experience the spirit of running an African Major. Set in the beautiful, international city of Cape Town on the tip of South Africa, it embodies the beauty of the sea and mountains of the Cape. Alongside the marathon (Sunday) the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon weekend includes 10km & 5km Peace Runs and some mountain trail runs (Saturday); 43-46km, 22km & 11km.

Awards: Everyone who finishes the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon will receive a medal, ASICS Shirt and goodie bag. AGWC finishers will receive an additional AGWC Medal.
Event difficulty: Moderate to fairly flat course. Expect a few long hills.

Registration & Booking

Rates: All prices are based on current exchange rates and may change due to currency fluctuations. All payments to Marathon Tours & Travel will be processed in USD.
Reservation and Payments: A completed tour application together with a non-refundable deposit of $500 per person must be received before confirming your reservations. Final payment must be received before December 1, 2025. Final payments received after December 1, 2025 are subject to a $50 late payment fee. Bookings made after December 1, 2025 will require full payment at the time of booking.
Cancellations: All payments, including your deposit, are non-refundable and non-transferrable. Non-transferrable includes applying your balance to another person, another year or another trip. Should you cancel for any reason, you will forfeit your trip investment. Therefore, travel insurance for every trip is highly recommended. All cancellations must be received in writing.
Not Included in Price: All items not specifically listed under tour features. The race entry is NOT included in this package, you must secure the AGWC entry by the AbbottWMM invitation process.
Insurance: For your protection, trip cancellation, baggage, health and accident insurance is highly recommended for all participants. However, no representation or description of the insurance made by our staff constitutes a binding assurance or promise about the insurance.
Travel Insurance for U.S. Residents
Travel Insurance for Canadian ResidentsSecurity Policy: Marathon Tours & Travel’s security policy requires that anyone staying in our room block must be registered as part of our package. If a registered client attempts to house a non-registered guest and /or invite them to attend any of our scheduled activities, the registered guest’s tour package will be forfeited and parties may be denied access to future tours. Please note that no exceptions will be made as this policy will be strictly enforced.
Responsibility: These tours are operated by Marathon Tours, Inc. of Chelsea, MA who acts only as an agent for the passenger to the companies offering such services and assumes no liability for injury, damage, loss, accident, delay or irregularity caused by any reason whatsoever by any party offering such services. All terms and conditions offered are governed by the laws of Massachusetts. The right is reserved to cancel the tour prior to departure with a refund, less applicable credit card and processing fees, made as full settlement to the passenger. The right is reserved by Marathon Tours, Inc. to deny acceptance of a booking application by any person. Marathon Tours, Inc. may make any changes or alterations in the itinerary as it deems necessary for the proper handling of the tour. The sole responsibility of any airline used is limited to that set out in the passenger contract evidenced by the ticket. The airlines concerned are not to be held responsible for any act, omission or event during the time that the passengers are not on board their aircraft.

This event is an Abbott World Marathon Majors Marathon Tours & Travel Age Group World Championship (AGWC) Qualifying Race. If you achieve the automatic qualifying time for your age group, found here, you’ll be invited to the 2026 Age Group World Championship. Location still to be determined. The qualifying period begins on January 1, 2025, and will conclude on December 31, 2025.

With more than twenty years of experience in travel logistics, conference planning, and marketing it has been a dream to blend her passion of running and travel with her career. Karen has completed close to 40 marathons, including Boston (2011, 2022, 2023), sevral ultra-marathons, and many half marathons and local races. She earned her Abbott Six Star Finisher Medal in London (April 2023).
Karen is certified as a running coach with Road Runners Club of America, a member of USATF and Marathon Maniacs, is a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP), earned her MS in Marketing Communications from the University of Kansas and BS in Economics/Finance from Bentley University. In addition to working on Marathon Tours & Travel marketing efforts, Karen manages our programs to Bermuda, Israel, Kenya, the Italy Coast to Coast Relay, Madagascar, Scotland, Athens and supports our U.S. packages to Big Sur and Boston. She is always looking forward to the next adventure!
