Friday, January 3
The itinerary below reflects the 4-night package. We highly recommend adding on our post-race extension to your trip to allow you the time to discover and enjoy much more of China.
Arrival Day
Individual arrival transfers from Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport to your selected hotel are included. On arrival to your selected hotel you will check in for your 4-night stay.
The rest of the day is free for you to explore the city until 17:00pm when the Marathon Tours & Travel Welcome Briefing will take place – this is scheduled to last for approximately 1 hour, so if you are making dinner reservations, please make sure these are after 18:00pm.
Saturday, January 4
Warm-Up Run, Half-Day City Tour & Pre-Race Dinner
The warm-up run (organized by Xiamen Marathon) takes place today – details and timings for this will be confirmed closer to the time.
09:00 – 14:00: After breakfast at the hotel, you will depart for a half-day city tour of Gulangyu Island!
Gulangyu is an island facing the city of Xiamen across the 600-meter-wide Lujiang Strait. It was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2017. With the opening of Xiamen as a commercial port in 1843, Gulangyu gradually became an international settlement and an important window for Sino-foreign exchanges. Its heritage reflects the nature of a modern settlement composed of historical buildings of different local and international architectural styles, natural sceneries and gardens.
Today, a delicious Chinese lunch is included and will be enjoyed at a local restaurant.
14:00 – 17:30: This afternoon we will make a visit to The 6th China Marathon Expo & Fujian Road Running Industry Expo 2025.
18:30 – 20:30: This evening, after you have returned from the Expo, you will enjoy a pre-race pasta dinner (buffet style, venue tbc).

Sunday, January 5
Race Day & Celebrations!
Today is RACE DAY – the start area is within walking distance from the hotel and the onsite staff will be there to assist.
Attracting runners worldwide, the Xiamen Marathon 2025 has established itself as a major event on the global marathon calendar. It’s a chance to compete alongside runners from all corners of the globe!
18:00 – 20:00: Enjoy a celebration dinner at the hotel (buffet style). Includes soft drinks, tea, coffee, local beer and imported house wine.

Monday, January 6
Full Day Tour and Farewell Dinner
Today, after breakfast, you will leave for a full day tour of the TULOU Hakka Fortified Villages.
Fujian Tulou, also known as Hakka Fortified Villages, was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2008. It is a group of buildings constructed between the 15th and 20th centuries, inland from Xiamen. Set amongst rice, tea and tobacco fields, the Tulou are earthen houses, several floors high, built along an inward-looking, circular or square floor plan as housing for up to 800 people each. They were built for defense purposes around a central open courtyard with only one entrance and windows to the outside only above the first floor. Housing a whole clan, the houses functioned as village units and feature tall, fortified mud walls capped by tiled roofs with wide over-hanging eaves. The most elaborate structures date back to the 17th and 18th centuries.
Today, a delicious Chinese lunch is included and will be enjoyed at a local restaurant during the excursion.
Tonight upon your return to the hotel, the group will head to a local restaurant for a seafood dinner.

Tuesday, January 7
Departure Day
Today, unless you have booked the extension trip to Guilin and Hong Kong, we will bid you farewell after breakfast today. It’s not goodbye but instead we’ll see you next time as we hope you will join us for another Marathon Tours & Travel trip.
Individual departure transfers from the hotel to Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport are included. Your departure time will be shared closer to the event date.

Flight to Guilin
Transfer from the hotel to Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport
FLIGHT XIAMEN/GUILIN MF8335 (16:05/18:00) or similar (economy class)
Upon arrival in Guilin, meet and greet by your English-speaking guide, transfer to the hotel and check in.
Buffet dinner at the hotel.

Wednesday, January 8
Li River Cruise and Ruyi Mountain
Transfer to the pier to take the Li River Cruise from Guilin to Yangshuo, a picturesque journey through spectacular sights and scenery (including simple buffet lunch on board).
After disembarking in Yangshuo, transfer to take the cable car up to Ruyi Mountain to enjoy the panoramic view from a different perspective.
Return by road to Guilin.
Tonight you will enjoy dinner at a local restaurant near the hotel.

Thursday, January 9
Guilin to Hong Kong!
Transfer to Guilin West Railway Station

Victoria Peak, Repulse Bay and Aqua Luna Cruise
Today after breakfast you will enjoy a full day excursion in Hong Kong!
- Victoria Peak is a remnant of Hong Kong’s history as a colony of Great Britain.
- The open-air Sky Terrace observation deck located on the Victoria Peak with an altitude of 428 meters above sea level.
- Repulse Bay – one of Hong Kong’s most exclusive residential areas — on the southern coast of Hong Kong Island.
- Aqua Luna Hong Kong Cruise – Laying back on the comfort seat, indulging one complimentary drink onboard and soaking in the fantastic views and skyline of Victoria Harbor of Hong Kong is a must-do thing while traveling in this city!
Dim Sum lunch at local restaurant will be provided during the tour.
Dinner will be at your own leisure this evening.

Room Policy
Marathon Tours & Travel’s policy is that anyone staying in our room block must be part of our package. If you plan to bring a spouse or guest, they must purchase our package. For example, if there are two of you, the rate would be the double occupancy rate (per person). If you purchase a single occupancy rate package, then only you are allowed in your room. To attend any of our activities, you must be part of our package.

Starting Times and Bib Numbers: Although we are licensed to sell official entries for the Xiamen Marathon events we have no influence over the allocation of starting times and bib numbers.

Weather: Average temperatures range between 18 to 22 deg C (64 to 70 deg F).
Eligibility: Marathon entrants must be over 20 years old.
Awards: Everyone who finishes the Xiamen Marathon within the time limit will receive finisher supplies and a medal. The organizing committee will also provide race T-shirt, race bag, bib number, timing chip and official program to all the participants.

How to book

Security Policy
Marathon Tours & Travel’s security policy requires that anyone staying in our room block must be registered as part of our package. If a registered client attempts to house a non-registered guest and/or invite them to attend any of our scheduled activities, the registered guest’s tour package will be forfeited and parties may be denied access to future tours. Please note that no exceptions will be made as this policy will be strictly enforced.
