Rome is one of the most historic cities in the world, steeped in history with ancient buildings and landmarks. There really is no city like it. The 30th edition of the Rome Marathon will give you the chance to run through history, soaking in all Rome has to offer along the way. Starting from Fori Imperiali, passing in front of the Vittoriano, you will see the chariot-racing stadium the Circo Massimo, before enjoying the breeze of Lungotevere alley that runs along the river Tiber. You will then take in the impressive Castel Sant’Angelo, viale della Conciliazione and St. Peter’s Basilica before finishing. This is a route that is unmatched anywhere in the world. Throughout, you will be engaged and enthralled!
Travelling from afar? Run two races in one trip with us. Paris Half Marathon is the weekend before the Rome Marathon 2025.

Arrival Day
Today you will arrive in Rome and should make your own way to the Starhotels Metropole by train, taxi or shuttle.
We recommend you stop by the concierge desk at the hotel to book any additional city tours.
This afternoon, you should plan to visit the Rome Marathon Expo to pick up your race bib and packet. More specifics on the Expo will be sent to you as the race gets closer.
Enjoy the evening on your own.
Saturday 15 March 2025
Free Day & Pasta dinner
Today is a free day. We recommend a tour of the Vatican or one of several other destinations nearby.
If you did not manage to pick up your bib from the Expo yesterday we strongly advise you do this as early as possible today to avoid the rush later on!
Tonight join us for a pre-race dinner at a local restaurant.

Sunday 16 March 2025
Race Day!
Breakfast will be available early. Those running the Rome Marathon 2025 will easily be able to walk to the start from Starhotels Metropole. The race start area is just a 10 minute walk away.
Please leave plenty of extra time to make your way through the crowds, drop off your bag (if you chose this option) and to find your specific start pen. On arrival at the start please follow the instructions of the race officials, run, and have fun!
Upon finishing your race, you can leisurely walk back to your hotel for a free afternoon.
Join us this evening for a group Celebration Reception.

Located in the city centre, near the Roma Termini railway station and the Rome Opera House, the Starhotels Metropole, with its evocative blend of comfort and class, shows Rome at its multifaceted best. The start and finish area for the Rome Marathon is reachable within a 10 minute walk as are the Colosseum, the Fori Imperiali and the Trevi Fountain
The hotel’s 236 newly renovated rooms and suites are an oasis of peace and relaxation away from the bustle of the city. The Apicio restaurant offers Roman cuisine and the best of international dishes and the Bistrot Rendez Vous bar is the ideal setting for a coffee, a quick lunch or a cocktail.

Race Time: 08:30am
Organizer: Infront Italy S.p.A. in association with Corriere dello Sport S.r.l., Atielle Roma S.r.l. and Italia Marathon Club – amateur sports club, affiliated with the Italian Athletics Federation (FIDAL). You can find more information on the Run Rome The Marathon website.
Course: The loop course will start near the Colosseum and pass many spectacular sites such as Piazza Venezia, the Roman Forum, Piazza Navona and the Vatican. There is also a 5K fun run starting immediately after the marathon. Entry for the 5K can be made on site at the Runner’s Expo.
Temperature: The average temperatures in Rome are as follows: 9am: 7°-8° C , 1pm: 18°-19° C , 4pm: 13°-14° C . It is always best to check the 10 day forecast before you depart your home city.
Entry Fee: Entry to the marathon via Marathon Tours & Travel is £69.
Eligibility: A medical certificate for competitive athletics is compulsory in Italy and must be valid on the date of the event and issued by the athlete’s general practitioner in the athlete’s country of residence. Athletes have to produce the original medical certificate to the Marathon Village at the time of the bib number collection. All runners must be 20 years of age or older on race day.
Time Limit: The course time limit for the Marathon is six (6) hours and 30 minutes. Streets are open to traffic and pedestrians in the late stages of the race.
Number Pickup: Participants must personally pick up bib numbers and race packets. More details will be shared as soon they are available.
Awards: Top three overall for males and females in the marathon. In addition, prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female runners based on age categories. For all athletes residing outside of Rome, prizes will be shipped to the address indicated on the entry form. Each runner will receive a medal upon completion of the event.
Difficulty: Mostly flat, some of the course is on cobblestone.

Security Policy
Marathon Tours & Travel’s security policy requires that anyone staying in our room block must be registered as part of our package. If a registered client attempts to house a non-registered guest and/or invite them to attend any of our scheduled activities, the registered guest’s tour package will be forfeited, and parties may be denied access to future tours. Please note that no exceptions will be made as this policy will be strictly enforced.
Race Rules
Our itinerary and details regarding the race are based on current information available at the time this package was released for sale. Whilst we expect the details to remain correct, changes are possible and will be confirmed nearer to the trip after the race organisers have confirmed final instructions. All race rules and procedures need to be followed.
Starting Pens and Bib Numbers
Although we are licensed to sell official entries for the 2025 Rome Marathon, we have no influence over the allocation of starting times and bib numbers. After purchasing your race entry with us, you will be sent a link to complete the registrations process. Please do not expect it immediately after booking – it will be sent when Rome Marathon sends the links to us. The race organisers will allocate you a starting time and bib based on the information you provide.
